I just wanted to post some interesting blogs about IDT that I have found while reading about the subject:

 IDOS: http://ome.ksu.edu/id/blog/
This is an interesting blog site for those of us who think gaming can be educational.

Instructional Design Blog: http://blogs.uit.tufts.edu/id/
This blog has a wide variety of resources, including links to EDUCAUSE Quarterly (which you can access directly by clicking on the this link)

Instructional Design and Educational Technology: http://www.wideopendoors.net/
This site is great for us graduate students. Starts with a nice definition of IDT and has many resources that academics can use (ie. links to APA styles and teaching theories).

InfoDesign: http://www.informationdesign.org/
This site is heavy on technology. It has good design resources for usability and accessibility for elearning content.

  1. These are all good sites; thanks for putting them up. I am sure I know “Richard” – the host of the ID & Ed-Tech blog. But his ed-tech blog won’t come up, so I can’t confirm his identity. He links to PIDT, which I attended last year. I’m curious.

  2. Speaking of using games in classrooms to improve the learning and teaching, there is an article about using the game Revolution in a social studies lesson (http://www2.ncsu.edu/unity/lockers/project/meridian/win2007/game_ed/index.htm).

Games will always attract a student’s attention and educators need to design the lesson well so that games don’t become a pure distraction.

  3. Thanks for the sites. I sifted through them and added most of them to my del.isio.us. My favorite was the educause…I found some interesting info and will spend more time researching it.

  4. Thank you for finding and sharing these ID and technology blogs and sites. I need some other resources and topic ideas for my discussions and postings; some inspiration!

  5. Thanks for the links and the little summaries, I will have to check them out in my no spare time:)

  6. I appreciate your sharing these sites. I used a few for our Induction paper and wish I had found some of the others then. I am glad I have them now.

  7. I enjoyed your list, thanks for the great resources!

  8. Hey! thanks for the links. There has been a lot of talk about how can we use video games for education. I personally am not into videl games, but I think the topic is so interesting because so many of my students are.
